BayWa receives offers for Dutch Cefetra amid debt reduction plan

Refiles with PARIS dateline instead of BERLIN

PARIS, May 16 (Reuters) - Embattled German trading group BayWa BYWGnx.DE has received at least two offers for its Dutch grain and oilseed trading branch Cefetra, which the group has put up for sale as part of a wider attempt to cut debt, two sources close to the matter said.

One of the sources said one offer for Rotterdam-based Cefetra came from a hedge fund and another one from an industry peer. Another source said three bids had been submitted.

BayWa declined to comment on Cefetra but said the group had started the sale of major holdings and subsidiaries as planned as part of its transformation.

BayWa is trying to reduce its debt by 4 billion euros ($4.49 billion), notably by selling most of its foreign assets by 2028.

The Munich-based group has been grappling with rising borrowing costs, forcing it to embark on a major restructuring, including job cuts.

BayWa had paid 125 million euros to take over the company in 2012.
