Becton Dickinson raises lower end of annual profit forecast on drug delivery devices strength

Becton Dickinson raises lower end of annual profit forecast on drug delivery devices strength

- Becton Dickinson BDX.N on Thursday raised the lower end of its adjusted profit forecast for full-year 2026 after beating Wall Street estimates for third-quarter profit and revenue, helped by demand for its drug-delivery devices and surgical equipment.

The New Jersey-based company makes and distributes medical and surgical products such as needles, syringes and disposal units.

Here are the details:

  • Demand for pharmaceutical manufacturing is showing signs of steadying for life sciences tools makers, although they continue to contend with cautious post-pandemic funding for smaller biotechs and sluggish academic research spending.

  • On an adjusted basis, the company earned profit per share of $3.23 for the quarter ended June 30. Analysts on an average expected $3.14, according to data compiled by LSEG.

  • It posted quarterly revenue of $4.98 billion, above analyst's average estimate of $4.89 billion.

  • Revenue from the connected care segment rose 4.9% to $1.22 billion in the third quarter, while revenue from Interventional, which provides surgical solutions, rose 6.4% to $1.41 billion.

  • Becton Dickinson completed the spinoff and combination of its biosciences and diagnostic solutions unit in a $17.5 billion deal with Waters Corp WAT.N earlier this year.

  • The medical device maker now expects annual adjusted profit per share between $12.62 and $12.72, compared with its previous forecast of $12.52 to $12.72.

  • Analysts on an average expect annual profit of $12.61 per share.

  • Becton Dickinson maintained its annual sales growth forecast to be in low-single digits.
