Corrects headline to say 2026, not 'next year'
March 12 (Reuters) - European broadcaster RTL Group RRTL.DE expects its streaming business to be profitable in 2026, it said on Thursday, as it aims to reduce startup losses.
The broadcaster expects 2026 streaming operating profit to be between 25 and 50 million euros and a total full-year profit of around 725 million euros.
The company noted the business almost hit a break-even point in the fourth quarter of 2025.
"The market environment in 2025 remained challenging... Against this backdrop, RTL Group further accelerated its transformation by reallocating resources to streaming, combined with comprehensive cost reductions across our main businesses," CEO Thomas Rabe said in a statement.
The firm reported an 8% year-on-year decline in 2025 adjusted operating profit of 661 million euros ($766.89 million), beating a company-provided consensus estimate of 652 million euros.
RTL is proposing a dividend of 5.50 euros per share, buoyed by its sale of RTL Nederland in July.
