A member of MPS' board who is under investigation on suspicion of insider trading has resigned, the Tuscan bank said on Wednesday.
Stefano Di Stefano resigned "with immediate effect, for personal reasons and in connection with the commencement of investigations concerning him", the bank said in a statement.

The automaker is looking to exit its U.S. battery joint venture with South Korea's Samsung 006400.KS as it looks to scale back its electric-vehicle ambitions, Bloomberg News reported on Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter.

The total net cost of rescuing Banca Progetto, the Oaktree-owned bank, will be around 1.2-1.3 billion euros, weighing on Italy's deposit protection fund (FITD) and on the country's five-biggest banks, Intesa Sanpaolo ISP.MI, UniCredit CRDI.MI, Banco BPM BAMI.MI, BPER EMII.MI and MPS, Il Messaggero reported on Wednesday.
The daily added that the European Central Bank is expected to approve the rescue plan in March.
