POLITICS
Italian Defence Minister Guido Crosetto was taken to a Rome
hospital late on Tuesday after feeling unwell during a
government meeting, the defence ministry said.
Crosetto spent two days in hospital in February due to heart
problems.

Italy's second largest bank studies every possible
acquisition target for the bank, Chief Executive Andrea Orcel
told the Financial Times in an interview, ruling out an interest
for Societe Generale SOGN.PA .
Citing people with knowledge of its Russia exposure, the
newspaper also reported that UniCredit would provision for
potential losses in its next quarterly results after a Russian
court last week seized 463 million euros ($503 million), or 5%
of its local assets, in a case over an aborted gas plant
project.

New car sales in the European Union rose 13.7% in April on
the year for their biggest jump since last October, Europe's
auto industry body ACEA said on Wednesday, after registrations
fell in March. Stellantis' sales grew by 1.7%.

A few international investors are interested in the bank
after its shares fell sharply following the Bank of Italy
intervention suspending dividends and bonus payments, MF daily
reported on Wednesday. Among the names circulating in the
market, according to the paper, is U.S. fund Elliott Management.
SAES GETTERS SAES.MI
SGG Holding said on Tuesday that bourse regulator Consob had
approved its takeover bid for the Italian advanced materials and
technologies company at 26.3 euros per share, aimed at
delisting.
