May 13 (Reuters) - Bharti Airtel BRTI.NS, India’s second-largest mobile carrier by number of users, posted a quarterly profit rise on Wednesday, aided by steady subscriber additions and users upgrading to higher-margin plans.
Consolidated pre-tax profit rose 35.8% to 132.05 billion rupees ($1.38 billion) for the quarter ended March 31, from 97.24 billion rupees a year earlier.
Airtel's profit in the year-ago quarter was boosted by a net tax gain of 28.92 billion rupees.
