US-based Kalitta Air orders Airbus freighter jets, sources say
US-based Kalitta Air orders Airbus freighter jets, sources say Oct 9 (Reuters) - US cargo carrier Kalitta Air has ordered eight Airbus AIR.PA A350F freighters as the US military contractor looks beyond its traditional supplier Boeing BA.N to tap European alternatives for the first time, three people familiar with the order said.
Airbus posted the deal as a firm contract in a recent orders update without identifying the buyer, the people said, asking not to be quoted because the buyer's name is not public.
Airbus, which staged a maiden flight of the A350F last month, declined to comment. Michigan-based Kalitta Air said it was evaluating the jet but had yet to make a decision.
