Boston Scientific sues J&J for patent infringement over heart procedure tool By Blake Brittain
Oct 8 (Reuters) - Medical device maker Boston Scientific BSX.N has sued Johnson & Johnson JNJ.N subsidiary Atraverse Medical in Delaware federal court, alleging Atraverse's Hotwire heart-procedure device infringes one of its patents.
Boston Scientific said in the complaint, made public on Thursday, that the Hotwire violates its patent rights in innovations related to medical devices for puncturing tissue
The complaint builds on a related, ongoing patent lawsuit that Boston Scientific filed against Atraverse over the device in the same court last year
Spokespeople for J&J, which acquired Atraverse earlier this year, did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the new complaint
Atraverse's Hotwire is used to access the left side of the heart during medical procedures to treat heart conditions like atrial fibrillation
Boston Scientific requested an unspecified amount of monetary damages and a court order blocking Atraverse from infringing the patent
The case is Boston Scientific Corp v. Atraverse Medical Inc, US District Court for the District of Delaware, No. 1:26-cv-01294.
For Boston Scientific: Nitika Fiorella of Fish & Richardson
For Atraverse: attorney information not immediately available
