Braemar (LSE: BMS), a provider of expert investment, chartering, and risk
management advice to the shipping and energy markets, today announces the
launch of a ten-strong Natural Gas desk. Braemar is responding to a clear need
in the Energy market for assistance navigating volatile rate changes and price
fluctuations.
The Natural Gas desk is another addition to Braemar's Securities offering,
which has substantially grown revenue and market share in recent years.
Braemar's Dry Cargo FFA, Coal (physical and derivatives), and Wet FFA desks
now employ almost 30 people. Braemar's Securities desks contributes more than
12% to Braemar's total revenue.
The launch of Braemar's Natural Gas desk follows the successful acquisition
and integration of Atlantic Brokers in 2018, the launch of BraemarScreen.com
in 2020 that brought new levels of price transparency to dry freight
derivatives, and a highly successful two-decade Wet FFA partnership with GFI.
Braemar's Natural Gas desk will primarily deal in EU gas, UK NBP gas
(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Balancing_Point_(UK)) , and LNG. It
will also broke EUA

(Carbon ETS) allowances. The desk serves a sophisticated and demanding client
base, including many of Europe's leading energy companies as well as banks and
hedge funds, and Braemar's new brokers are well-known in the markets for their
long track record of success. The team is in place and will start trading as
soon as all regulatory requirements are fulfilled.
Tris Simmonds, COO of Braemar, commented, "Providing access to more energy
products was always part of our growth strategy, there are clear synergies
with our shipping desks and our clients need greater market access. We've
brought in a talented young team with a good track record. They will provide
us with a strong platform to add more products."
Newly appointed Marc Jarvis, Head of Natural Gas at Braemar Securities Ltd,
commented, "We're excited to be joining Braemar, a company that shares our
values and our ambitions. The Wet and Dry Cargo FFA desks have strong
reputations and market share. We have similar client bases, and there is great
opportunity to expand the breadth of activities."
