Australia's Brainchip hits record high on grant of U.S. patent

** Shares of Brainchip Holdings Ltd  BRN.AX  soar as much as
25.8% to A$2.34, hitting a record high 
    ** The software firm announces grant of U.S. patent, which
extends protection to Brainchip's learning function from U.S.
Patents and Trademarks Office  urn:newsml:reuters.com:*:nASX7lSdDv
    ** Adds that this is the 8th patent secured by co since 2008
    ** More than 66.5 mln shares change hands, compared with the
30-day average volume of about 28.5 mln shares
    ** Stock has risen 173.5% this year, as of last close
