Brenntag lifts profit guidance for second time in seven weeks By Ozan Ergenay
Aug 7 (Reuters) - German chemicals distributor Brenntag BNRGn.DE on Friday hiked its core profit guidance for the second time in less than seven weeks, citing a strong start to the third quarter.
The company now expects operating earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization of €1.35 billion to €1.45 billion ($1.56 billion to $1.67 billion) for the full year.
It had last raised its EBITDA expectations to between €1.25 billion and €1.40 billion in late June.
Brenntag shares were up 2.4% shortly after the market opened.
Parts of the European chemical industry have recently benefited from robust demand and higher prices, as disruptions in supply chains, energy and feedstock markets linked to the conflict in the Middle East prompted customers to seek supplies closer to home.
However, Germany's chemical industry body VCI warned last month that the recent uplift could prove temporary.
