European chemical firms hit by Middle East conflict and Hormuz closure fears

** Shares in European chemicals companies fall after the U.S.-Iran conflict and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz roiled global markets

** STOXX Europe Chemicals index .SX4P declines 2.4% and is among the worst performers on the pan-European STOXX 600 .STOXX index, which is down around 2%

** Brenntag BNRGn.DE, Clariant CLN.S and DSM-Firmenich DSFIR.AS slide between 2.2% and 2.7%

** BASF BASFn.DE, Evonik EVKn.DE and Lanxess LXSG.DE fall between 3.3% and 4%

** Solvay SOLB.BR, Wacker Chemie WCHG.DE and Syensqo SYENS.BR are down 3.3%, 4.2% and 5%, respectively
