Cytokinetics jumps as heart disease drug meets goals in late-stage trial

** Shares of drugmaker Cytokinetics CYTK.O climb 23.3% to $81.45 premarket

** Firm says its heart disease drug met the dual goals of a late-stage trial in patients with symptomatic non-obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, an inherited heart disorder where the heart muscle is thickened

** The drug, aficamten, is approved under the brand name Myqorzo for the treatment of symptomatic obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, which causes excessive thickening of the heart muscle and obstructs blood flow from the left ventricle

** Today's results could also solidify its status at the preferred HCM therapy over Bristol Myers Squibb's BMY.N Camzyos, Truist says

** BMY shares down 1.4% premarket

** CYTK stock up 4% YTD
