Wall Street's main indexes rose on Tuesday as technology and chips stocks
gained, while investors braced for volatile trading over the next few sessions
as voting began in a tightly contested U.S. presidential election.  .N 
    
    At 10:36 ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average  .DJI  was up 0.9% to
42,161.25. The S&P 500  .SPX  was up 0.85% at 5,761.13 and the Nasdaq Composite
 .IXIC  was up 0.99% at 18,359.87.
