POLITICS
Italy summoned the Israeli ambassador on Wednesday to demand an explanation over shots fired at an Italian convoy in a U.N. mission in Lebanon, the foreign minister said, warning Israeli forces had "no authority to touch" Rome's troops.
ECONOMY
The EU should adopt more flexible rules to offset temporary negative effects from the Iran crisis, particularly on energy, Italian Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti said on Wednesday after a meeting in Rome with EU industry chief Stephane Sejourne.
DEBT
Treasury sells 12-month BOT bills. Subscriptions close at 0900 GMT.
The Treasury said on Wednesday it would sell up to 8 billion euros ($9.34 billion) in bonds at an April 10 auction.
COMPANIES

Italy's Treasury will not take part in the April 15 shareholder assembly that will pick the bank's new directors, sources told Reuters, in line with its stance of keeping out of the board renewal process. The Treasury retains a stake of nearly 5% in the bailed-out lender following its re-privatisation.
(*) Major investor Gruppo Caltagirone has raised its stake to 13.5% from the 10.3% shown on its website as of March 24, through a 500 million euros investment, several newspapers reported on Thursday.

The partnership with Leapmotor 9863.HK could extend to production sites in Italy, including the Cassino plant in central Italy, daily la Repubblica said on Thursday after Reuters reported on Wednesday that the Franco-Italian automaker was in advanced talks with the Chinese partner to jointly develop an Opel-branded electric SUV in Spain.
U.S. carmakers say rules under consideration by Brussels could keep full-size pickup trucks including the Ford F-150, the Chevy Silverado and the Ram 1500 off European roads, according to a letter seen by Reuters.

The Italian government will publish its slates of candidates for the renewal of boards at state-controlled companies on Thursday, Corriere della Sera reported.

Several newspapers said on Thursday that Gian Piero Cutillo, managing director of the defence group's helicopters division, and former Leonardo executive Lorenzo Mariani are the frontrunners to succeed CEO Roberto Cingolani. Italy's Senate on Wednesday gave final approval to an energy bill which, among other things, postpones to 2038, 13 years later than planned, the permanent shutdown of the country's coal-fired power plants.

Italy's outgoing soccer chief on Wednesday called for diverting betting revenue into youth development and infrastructure to revive a sport in deep crisis after the national team failed to qualify for the World Cup for the third time in a row.
IPO, PANINI
The maker of collectible soccer players' stickers, responding to a Reuters report from last week, said on Wednesday it was assessing future strategic options, including an IPO or opening capital to a large partner.

The holding company of the Agnelli-Elkann family on Wednesday nominated Png Chin Yee and Benedetto Della Chiesa as non-executive members of its board, subject to AGM approval on May 20.
