May 6 (Reuters) - Poland's biggest construction group Budimex BDXP.WA on Wednesday reported a more than 24% year-on-year fall in its first-quarter net profit, impacted by severe winter weather and the completion of major road projects.
The company is diversifying beyond its roads business, with operations in rail, energy and industrial construction while pursuing growth abroad in Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Latvia and Estonia.
• Budimex's Polish construction sales fell 18.7% year-on-year, driven by low temperatures and snow in the first two months of the year that slowed construction activity.
• Profit was also weighed down by lower output in its road division after projects that generated significant revenue last year were completed.
• Total revenue fell 9% to 1.5 billion zlotys ($417 million) while operating margin edged up to 6.95% from 6.75%.
• The company said its order backlog stood at 18.8 billion zlotys at the end of March, largely securing revenue through the end of 2027.
