NEW PRESIDENT'S PROPOSALS
New Polish President Karol Nawrocki vowed on Wednesday to change the country's constitution to protect its sovereignty in an address to parliament after his inauguration that set the scene for a battle with the government over democratic standards.
BANK PEKAO
Poland's Bank Pekao PEO.WA reported a 12.8% rise in its second-quarter net profit on Thursday, as strong loan growth fuelled a rise in its net interest income that helped it absorb legal provisions for its Swiss franc loan portfolio.
CENTRAL COMMUNICATIONS PORT
Minister of Funds Katarzyna Pelczynska-Nalecz proposed listing the Central Communications Port on the Warsaw Stock Exchange and financing the construction of nuclear power plants by state-owned companies in exchange for cheaper electricity, Parkiet daily reported.

Polish footwear and fashion retailer CCC CCCP.WA is expected to report a 18% rise in second-quarter core profit, buoyed by robust sales, a Reuters poll showed on Wednesday. Preliminary results will be published on Thursday.
BUMECH
Bumech BMCP.WA, a Polish company specializing in hard coal mining and mining machinery, intends to expand its operations into the defence sector. The company has signed a letter of intent with South African OTT Technologies, a supplier of military armoured vehicles, Puls Biznesu daily reported.
