Norwegian tankers rise after US sanctions on Russian oil producers

** Shares in Norwegian tankers climb as U.S. sanctions on Russian oil majors raise expectations of tighter oil supply and stronger tanker demand

** SB1 Markets says the sanctions could boost demand for compliant tankers as Indian and Chinese buyers turn to alternative suppliers in the Middle East and Atlantic

** "Increased pressure on Russia will increase demand for the compliant fleet, as lower Russian exports will force buyers such as India and China to secure volumes from other regions," the broker says

** ABG Sundal Collier analyst Petter Haugen says sanctions, covering up to 3 million barrels per day of Russian exports, are "incrementally positive" for tankers though their full impact depends on enforcement

** "US tanker equities ended 2-4% higher yesterday and for now we expect the Norwegian listed tanker equities to catch up to that, awaiting more data on the actual impact on rates," he adds

** Shares in Frontline FRO.OL rise 2.4% after climbing as much as 5.5%

** Peers Hafnia RE0.F, BW LPG BWLPG.OL and MPC Container Ships MPCC.OL are up around 3-4%, all paring earlier gains
