Beyond Meat sizzles after media report suggests McPlant could become permanent

** Shares in vegan meat maker  BYND.O  jump as much as ~34%

 co, McDonald's  MCD.N  plan to make the McPlant burger a
permanent menu item
    ** In response, MCD said "McPlant has been part of our
global core menu lineup since November 2020 for markets to pull
down as they choose to"
    ** "There are no new updates in the U.S.," MCD added; BYND
shares pare gains to now trade up ~9%
    ** Fast Company subsequently corrects article to note MCD,
BYND say McPlant is "an opportunity"
    ** MCD debuted McPlant through its partnership with BYND in
eight U.S. locations in November and later expanded to 600

    ** BYND did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for

    ** BYND stock down ~34% this year, while MCD has fallen ~7%
