MILAN, March 28 (Reuters) - A group of fund managers said on Friday they would put forward four candidates for the new board of Generali GASI.MI, stoking uncertainty around the outcome of a key shareholder vote next month at the country's biggest insurer.
The group of managers, known as Comitato dei gestori, holds over 0.7% of the insurer.
A shareholder clash at the helm of Generali is unfolding on the backdrop of a consolidation wave reshaping Italian finance.
Generali's shareholders are due to vote on April 24 on the renewal of the board, including another term for current CEO Philippe Donnet who is expected to nominated for reappointment by top investor Mediobanca MDBI.MI.
