MILAN, Jan 28 (Reuters) - Italian entrepreneur Francesco
Gaetano Caltagirone exited on Thursday a shareholders' pact with
tycoon Leonardo Del Vecchio and banking foundation CRT over
insurer Generali GASI.MI , a letter seen by Reuters showed.
The members of the consultation pact controlled a combined
stake of over 16% in Italy's top insurer, where merchant bank
Mediobanca MDBI.MI holds around 17% of voting rights.
Construction and newspaper magnate Caltagirone decided to
exit the pact as the group had not committed to submit a shared
slate of candidates for the renewal of the insurer's board.
