Campbell's top shareholder Malone dies at 75

June 19 (Reuters) - Campbell's CPB.O said on Thursday that Mary Alice Dorrance Malone, its largest shareholder and a descendant of its founder, has died at the age of 75.

The company did not give a cause of death.

Malone was the longest-tenured board member at the canned soup maker. She was elected to the board in 1990 and was most recently a part of its governance and compensation and organization committees.

"Her extensive knowledge of Campbell's history, organization and culture, and her love for our food and iconic brands were invaluable to management and the board," CEO Mick Beekhuizen said in a statement.

Malone was the granddaughter of John Dorrance, who invented the condensed soup that turned Campbell's into a household name. She had a net worth of $3.6 billion, according to Forbes.
