EUROPE BEFORE THE BELL: PLENTY TO ASSESS
There's no shortage of news for stock markets to react to on Thursday.
There's the AI jitters that have caused market turbulence all week - although Europe has been shielded somewhat - new escalations in the Middle East that have sent oil prices slightly higher again, and a divided Federal Reserve causing confusion about the interest rate outlook. And of course there's a whole host of earnings.
UK-listed energy giant Shell SHEL.L, French bank Societe Generale SOGN.PA, French IT group Capgemini CAPP.PA, Spanish bank BBVA BBVA.MC and major brewer Anheuser-Busch InBev ABI.BR are just some of the companies that have released their latest results.
All of that paints a mixed picture for European indices ahead of the open. Euro STOXX 50 futures STXEc1 are near the flatline, and CAC futures FCEc1 are 0.1% higher. DAX FDXc1 and FTSE FFIc1 futures meanwhile are both lower, down 0.4% and 0.5% respectively.
Later in the day, attention will also turn to the Bank of England - which is widely expected to hold interest rates steady.
