    THE GLOBE AND MAIL
    ** Royal Bank of Canada  RY.TO  said that it expects to
close its C$13.5 billion ($10.02 billion) takeover of HSBC
Holdings' Canadian subsidiary in March, clinching the biggest
domestic banking deal on record.
    
    ** Complaints about Rogers Communications  RCIb.TO  shot up
by 44 per cent year-over-year to 2,893 around wireless,
internet, home-telephone and TV services. 

    ** Toronto-based Restaurant Brands International Inc
 QSR.TO  announced that it had agreed to acquire Carrols
Restaurant Group Inc  TAST.O , a publicly traded company that
operates 1,022 Burger King locations in the U.S., mostly in the
northeastern states.
