THE GLOBE AND MAIL
** Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland's 2023 budget will
announce plans to save about $7-billion over five years through
cuts to federal travel and reduced outsourcing, with a
particular focus on using fewer management consultants.
** Canada Infrastructure Bank is lending $277-million to
developers of a Quebec biorefinery, a $1.2-billion joint venture
of Shell PLC SHEL.L , Suncor Energy Inc SU.TO , Proman Canada
Inc and the Quebec and federal governments which is being built
to convert non-recyclable waste and cast-off wood into
low-carbon fuels.
** Calgary-based Pieridae Energy Ltd PEA.TO has abandoned
plans to transport natural gas from Western Canada to Nova
Scotia, citing the lack of sufficient pipeline capacity.

** A regulatory filing shows the Canadian branch of Silicon
Valley Bank is not part in First Citizen FCNCA.O purchase of
most of the failed U.S. bank.
