CD Projekt RED falls after "The Witcher 4" eyes 2028 launch
BUZZ-CD Projekt RED falls after "The Witcher 4" eyes 2028 launch ** Poland's biggest game developer CD Projekt RED CDR.WA shares fall over 6% to the bottom of Poland's blue-chip index WIG20 .WIG20 after company's joint CEO Michal Nowakowski said in a video posted on X platform that "The Witcher 4" targets 2028 release window
** Erste Group analyst Krzysztof Tkocz said in a note to clients, that after announcement about the planned 2027 launch of "Songs of the Past", part of the market had already moved its release expectations for "The Witcher 4" to 2028, "nevertheless, part of the market had still been hoping for a late-2027 release, which could lead to some short-term disappointment"
** Tkocz also points to the fact that the release of "The Witcher 4" in 2028 reduces the likelihood of company meeting the targets under the 2024-27 incentive program
** Today the company will present upcoming third expansion to "The Witcher 3" at Gamescom, the biggest video game fair
** "If the company announces the release date for Songs of the Past and opens pre-orders, market attention could quickly shift towards the expansion’s sales potential," Tkocz said
** "The CEO teased one or two “surprises”, which we believe could involve the unveiling of one or more projects that have not yet been revealed," he added
** CD Projekt RED shares are on track for its worst day since May 27, when it closed 7.5% lower
** Shares are among top losers on pan-European STOXX 600 index .STOXX
