U.S. stock indexes edged higher in choppy trading on Monday, with focus shifting
to Tuesday's midterm elections that will determine control of Congress, while
shares of Meta Platforms jumped on a report of job cuts at the Facebook
parent. .N 
    At 10:38 ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average  .DJI  was up 0.54% at
32,579.71. The S&P 500  .SPX  was up 0.21% at 3,778.28 and the Nasdaq Composite
 .IXIC  was down 0.09% at 10,465.919.
