April 15 (Reuters) - Centrica-owned Spirit Energy said on Wednesday it plans to cut 100 jobs and restructure its UK business into two independent organizations.
The company said the plan would create a Barrow-based operating company to manage the Morecambe Hub fields in the East Irish Sea, and an Aberdeen-based development company to advance its Morecambe Net Zero carbon storage project to a final investment decision.
Bloomberg News first reported about Spirit Energy's restructuring earlier on Wednesday.
The company's main shareholder Centrica CNA.L has been scaling back natural gas production in the aging North Sea basin.
