** Shares of  U.S. steel and aluminum companies rise after Canada and EU respond with retaliatory tariffs

** US duty rate on steel, aluminum rises to 25% as exemptions end

** EU responds with tariffs on up to 26 bln euros ($28 bln) of US goods, Canada imposes C$29.8 bln ($20 bln) in retaliatory tariffs

** Steelmaker US Steel X.N rises ~1%, Nucor NUE.N up 1.4% and Steel Dynamics STLD.O rises 3.2%

** Aluminum companies Century Aluminum CENX.O rise 6.6%, Alcoa AA.N up 2.6%
