14.9% to HK$1, their highest since Aug. 6
    ** Chinese rare earth producer says it has entered into
strategic agreememt with China Northern Rare Earth (Group)
High-Tech Co Ltd  600111.SS  to strengthen cooperation in rare
earth trading, processing, and extension of cooperation
industrial chain for mines in southern and northern China

    ** Shanghai shares of China Northern Rare Earth gain 0.8%
    ** Hang Seng Composite Index on industrials  .HSCIIG  drops
3.2%, and material index  .HSCIM  plunges 5.4%
    ** The Hang Seng Composite Index  .HSCI  falls 2.3% and the 
benchmark Hang Seng Index  .HSI  slips 2%
    ** Stock of the Jiangsu-based company had soared 114.8% this
year as of last close
