** Shares of Canadian aircraft services provider  CHR.TO  up
7% before being halted in afternoon trade
    ** CHR confirms it received preliminary, non-binding
acquisition proposal from a third party  urn:newsml:reuters.com:*:nCNWQlqlZa
    ** Chorus issued the statement in response to recent share
price appreciation
    ** "There can be no assurance that any transaction will
occur, or as to the timing, structure or terms of any
transaction," CHR says    
    ** CHR adds it does not intend to make further comment until
there is a transaction to announce
    ** YTD, stock down 68.7%
