TOKYO, May 15 (Reuters) - Japan's Kyushu Electric Power
Co Inc 9508.T has shut the No.2 reactor at its Sendai nuclear
power station in the southwestern part of the country for
scheduled maintenance, a company spokesperson said Monday.
The utility shut the 890-megawatt (MW) reactor on Saturday
and plans to reboot it in mid-July, he said.
The company restarted the 890-MW No.1 reactor at Sendai on
April 21 after completing maintenance and refuelling, he said.
It was shut on Feb. 16.
With the shutdown and the restart, Japan has eight operating
reactors with a capacity of 8,176 MW.
Many of Japan's reactors are still going through a
relicensing process under safety standards imposed after the
2011 Fukushima disaster.
Nine regional power utilities and wholesaler Japan Atomic
Power Co (Japco) now have 33 reactors available for commercial
use, with a combined capacity of 33,083 MW.
The companies had 54 reactors operating before the Fukushima
disaster.
The table below shows the status of Japan's nuclear power
plants.
The regional utilities are: Chubu Electric Power 9502.T ,
Chugoku Electric Power 9504.T , Hokkaido Electric Power
