POLITICS
Italy's outgoing Prime Minister Mario Draghi on Friday ruled
out serving another term as head of the government after Sept.
25 general elections, and said he sees no signs yet of Italy

The rightist League aims to win the Italian premiership when
the country holds an election next week, its leader Matteo
Salvini told his party's annual rally in northern Italy on

ECONOMY
The Italian government approved on Friday a new aid package
worth some 14 billion euros to shield firms and families from
surging energy costs, and approved plans for the rapid
installation of regasification terminal in Piombino.
France on Saturday denied reports that state-controlled
utility EDF had warned Italy it may halt its power exports to
the country and reaffirmed its commitment to "solidarity" with
its neighbors as Europe grapples with an energy crisis.

A court of Genoa dismissed the precautionary appeal filed by
Malacalza Investimenti, a minority shareholder of Carige bank,
against the 'squeeze-out' for the purchase of the shares in
Carige not yet in the possession of BPER.
