U.S. stocks opened flat on Tuesday, stabilizing after a slide a day earlier
driven by concerns that the fallout from the U.S.-China trade dispute could be
set to dominate the corporate earnings season and weaken profits.  .N 
    At 9:40 a.m. ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average  .DJI  was up 0.21 percent
at 24,579.55. The S&P 500  .SPX  was down 0.04 percent at 2,642.74 and the
