** ASX-listed shares of New Zealand's Contact Energy CEN.AX rise as much as 3.2% to A$8.32, logging their biggest intraday pct gain since June 24

** Energy generator-retailer reaches agreement with NZ's Ministry of Business, Innovation And Employment

** Under agreement, co to supply around 1.65 petajoules of gas per year to users such as schools and hospitals, when the government's agreement with its current supplier expires on September 30

** Stock last up 1.5%, trimming YTD loss to 1%
