ConvaTec Launches Sensi-Care Skin Protectant Incontinence Wipes, Expanding Core Wound Business and Protecting Patients' Skin

Expansion of Sensi-Care portfolio in $500m market for skin care wipes, providing customers with advanced, evidence-based1 solutions to cleanse, moisturize and protect patients' skin

READING, UNITED KINGDOM (23 March 2017) - ConvaTec Group Plc ("ConvaTec"), a leading global medical technology company, today announced the U.S. launch of Sensi-Care Skin Protectant Incontinence Wipes, providing customers with an advanced solution to help protect patients with skin at risk of breakdown due to incontinence.

The launch expands the company's presence in a growing segment of the $500 million wipes market, and adds to its portfolio that helps protect the skin, which includes Aloe Vesta and Sensi-Care cleansers, moisturizers, and moisture barriers, and supporting products such as AQUACEL Foam Pro dressings and Flexi-Seal( Signal Fecal Management Systems.

Sensi-Care Skin Protectant Incontinence Wipes are designed to help care providers cleanse patients' delicate skin following episodes of incontinence. Formulated with an optimal combination of skin care ingredients, the new wipes help treat and prevent incontinence-associated dermatitis (IAD).2

IAD, which is estimated to affect half of people with urinary or fecal incontinence,2 is a condition where the skin becomes irritated and inflamed and, if not treated appropriately, severely swollen and blistered. The occurrence of IAD is also associated with an increased risk for the development of pressure injuries (pressure ulcers) and infection.3

Sensi-Care Skin Protectant Incontinence Wipes feature a dual-texture design - smooth on one side and textured on the other - for more efficient cleansing of delicate areas. The disposable wipes may also be warmed for use, to increase patient comfort.* The ingredients in the wipes allow a caregiver to cleanse, moisturize, and protect the skin in one step.

"Episodes of urinary and fecal incontinence, distressing and uncomfortable for patients, can lead to skin damage and increase the risk of pressure injury development and infection," said Fiona Adam, Vice President and General Manager, Advanced Wound Care. "Our Sensi-Care portfolio including our new incontinence wipes was developed to answer the specific needs of care providers and patients, providing advanced formulations and easy-to-use products to help clinicians lessen these risks.

"ConvaTec is committed to providing a comprehensive range of products that can help healthcare professionals protect patients' skin, including advanced dressings such as AQUACEL Foam Pro and our Flexi-Seal systems for managing acute fecal incontinence."

Sensi-Care Evidence-based Skin Care

In addition to caring for patients' skin, ConvaTec's Sensi-Care skin care range was developed to provide healthcare professionals with solutions that can help them achieve consistent clinical and economic outcomes.

Sensi-Care skin care products work together in a simple 1-2-3 system to cleanse, moisturize and protect sensitive skin that is already compromised. The line includes Sensi-Care Body Wash & Shampoo, Perineal/Skin Cleanser, Body Cream, Protective Barrier, and Clear Zinc Skin Protectant. The 3-step skin care system provides a simple and proven solution designed to help maintain skin integrity, optimize resources and ensure consistency of care1 - delivering results that benefit everyone in healthcare.

Sensi-Care Skin Protectant Incontinence Wipes have a skin-friendly pH level, are fragrance free, and available in convenient, re-sealable packs of eight 8"x10" wipes.
