    - Alberta Premier Danielle Smith said on Thursday that
National Bank of Canada's  NA.TO  $5 billion deal for Canadian
Western Bank  CWB.TO  is a vote of confidence in the bank and in
Western Canada, and she is counting on the bank to continue its
strong support for Alberta energy projects.
  
    - Stifel Financial Corp  SF.N  is closing its office in
Calgary and consolidating its operations across the rest of
Canada, the U.S. investment bank said Wednesday, citing the need
to cut costs.
    
    - Corus Entertainment  CJRb.TO  is cutting jobs at its
Global News division as it seeks efficiencies across the company
