Feb 12 (Reuters) - Brazilian sugar and ethanol producer Raizen RAIZ4.SA said on Thursday its net loss surged six-fold to 15.6 billion reais ($3 billion) in the third quarter of the 2025/2026 crop year from 2.57 billion real a year earlier.
Adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) dipped by 3.3% year-on-year to 3.15 billion reais.
Net revenue came in at 60.4 billion reais in the October-December period, down 9.7% from a year earlier.
The company's performance was hurt by a challenging macro environment, including adverse impacts on agricultural yields, and, more recently, weaker sugar and ethanol prices.
Raizen said it "has engaged financial and legal advisers to evaluate structural alternatives aimed at strengthening our capital structure and preserving long-term competitiveness, as well as to engage with investors."
The beleaguered company reported a net debt of 55.3 billion reais in the April-December period, a 43.3% jump from the same period in 2024.
CONTEXT
Raizen last month reported its third-quarter sugarcane crush in the 2025-2026 crop year hit 10.6 million metric tons, down by about 23% from the same period a year earlier.
The company appointed legal and financial advisers this week to strengthen its liquidity.
Raizen is a joint venture of Brazilian conglomerate Cosan CSAN3.SA and British oil firm Shell SHEL.L.
