Italy - Factors to watch on October 30

The following factors could affect Italian markets on Thursday.

POLITICS

Italy has told the European Commission it is ready to make some changes to its so-called "golden power" rules aimed at shielding companies in strategic sectors, sources said, as the EU prepares disciplinary steps over the matter.

     (*) Italy's Court of Auditors on Wednesday refused to authorise a landmark government plan to build a bridge connecting Sicily to the mainland, casting serious doubt on the viability of the 13.5 billion euro ($15.7 billion) project.

ECONOMY

ISTAT releases Q3 GDP preliminary data (0900 GMT); September unemployment rate flash data (1000 GMT); August industry sales data (1100 GMT).

The automaker said on Thursday its revenue rose 13% year on year in the third quarter to 37.2 billion euros ($43.4 billion), mostly driven by its North American and European markets, its largest ones. The result is in line with an analyst consensus.

Europe's largest gas distributor pledged on Thursday to invest 16.5 billion euros ($19 billion) in the next seven years as it focuses on the integration of recently acquired rival 2i Rete Gas and the modernisation of its network.

The Italian bank said on Thursday it had increased its stake in Alpha Bank ACBr.AT to 29.5% after receiving ECB authorization to acquire a direct stake of up to 29.9% in the Greek lender.

The steel pipe maker posted a surprise 2% rise in third-quarter net sales on Wednesday, as stable drilling activity in North America helped offset weakness in other regions, it but warned margins would be hit by the "full impact" of tariff costs.

The cable maker raised its 2025 guidance on Thursday after strong performances in its transmission business and North America drove a 19.3% jump in quarterly core earnings.

The Italian energy company said on Thursday it had posted a 37% decline in its net profit to 251 million euros in the first 9 months of the year.

The Italian spirits maker said on Wednesday comparable net sales rose 4.4% in the third quarter, while confirming its previous full-year guidance and reducing its forecast for the impact of U.S. tariffs.

     Italy's Court of Auditors on Wednesday refused to authorise a landmark government plan to build a bridge connecting Sicily to the mainland. The contract for project had been awarded to the Eurolink consortium following an international tender some 20 years ago. Led by Italy's Webuild, it includes Spanish group Sacyr SCYR.MC and Japan's IHI 7013.T.

Kepler Cheuvreux cut its rating to "hold" from "buy" on Thursday.

IVECO IVG.MI

Iveco Bus signed agreements with Ile-de-France Mobilites to supply up to 4,000 vehicles.

The board is expected to meet on Thursday to set the price for the planned 400-million-euro capital increase which is scheduled to start on Nov 3, the Italian rocket maker said.
