Decibel Therapeutics rises on hearing loss treatment study data

** Shares of Decibel Therapeutics  DBTX.O  rise 8% to $2.42
premarket
    ** DBTX reports data from an ongoing early stage study
showing its drug candidate, DB-020, protects against hearing
loss induced by cisplatin chemotherapy  urn:newsml:reuters.com:*:nGNX9DGBbz
    ** Cisplatin is a common anti-cancer medication, one of the
side effects of which is ototoxicity, that may lead to permanent
hearing loss
    ** Patients in DBTX's trial received DB-020 in one ear and
placebo in the other
    ** Interim analysis showed that 88% of patients experienced
ototoxicity in their placebo-treated ear, and of these patients,
87% were partially or completely protected from ototoxicity in
their DB-020-treated ears - DBTX
    ** Co says DB-020 was generally well tolerated, and no
significant safety issues were observed
    ** Up to the last close, DBTX had fallen 52% YTD vs an 18.8%
decline in the Nasdaq biotechnology index  .NBI
