Starbucks, Domino's lead declines among U.S. restaurants in Jan-March quarter
** Shares in Domino's DPZ.N , which gained the most among
major U.S. restaurants last year, and Starbucks SBUX.O are the
biggest losers among their peers this quarter
** Restaurant stocks take a beating and underperform the
broader S&P 500 index .SPX as analysts have said a decline in
disposable income and higher prices of daily essentials could
force people to spend less at diners
** S&P 500 restaurants index .SPLRCREST is down 14% this
quarter versus a 4% decline in the SPX
** Applebee's-owner Dine Brands DIN.N and Chili's-parent
Brinker EAT.N are the among the outliers, and on course to
post gains for the first three months of the year
