The following factors could affect Italian markets on Friday.

    POLITICS
    Italy reported 40 coronavirus-related deaths on Thursday, up
from 37 the previous day, the health ministry said, while the
daily tally of new infections fell to 2,668 from 2,772.

    ECONOMY
    ISTAT releases September CPI final data (0800 GMT) and
August foreign trade data (0900 GMT).
    Bank of Italy releases August data on public finances, state
borrowing and debt.
    
    BANKS 
    Italy's Treasury is considering extending by six months tax
breaks for corporate mergers it first introduced to entice a
buyer for troubled state-owned bank Monte dei Paschi di Siena

    LEONARDO  LDOF.MI 
    Shares in the Italian defence group lost 7% after Boeing Co
and U.S. regulators said that some titanium 787 Dreamliner parts
had been improperly manufactured over the past three years.
    Boeing said the parts were provided by Leonardo, which
bought the items from Italy-based Manufacturing Processes

    MPS is no longer one of Leonardo's suppliers and it is under
investigation by prosecutors, the Italian defence firm said,
adding Leonardo was an injured party and would not bear any

    Italy's antitrust authority said on Thursday it had given a
conditional green light to Nexi's acquisition of smaller rival

    STELLANTIS  STLA.MI 
    Carmaker Stellantis will start a restructuring of its
European dealers' network, due to begin in June 2023, with its
premium brands such as Alfa Romeo and Lancia, the company's
European sales and marketing chief said on Thursday.

    The board of the Italian infrastructure group has approved
ending management and coordination of its operating
subsidiaries, Autostrade per l'Italia, Aeroporti di Roma,

    A Genoa court on Friday kicks off a trial into the 2018
Morandi bridge collapse holding a preliminary hearing for 59

    Italian broker Intermonte said on Thursday it had filed its
request to list on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM)
