Table: German engineering sector predicts major impact on orders from coronavirus

BERLIN, March 5 (Reuters) - Germany's VDMA engineering
association on Thursday said it had a "surprisingly good start"
to the year but warned of supply chain disruptions due to the
coronavirus outbreak, which it said would have a significant
impact on bookings in the coming months.
Orders in January rose by 7% year-on-year in real terms,
VDMA said, adding that the rise was mainly attributable to some
large orders.
"We have to expect disruptions along the supply chain from
China to Germany," VDMA's chief economist Ralph Wiechers said.
He pointed to the fact that China is the sector's
second-largest customer and the source of many components for
German-made machinery.
