Director Resignation
The board of Downing Strategic Micro-Cap Investment Trust plc is sorry to have to announce the forthcoming resignation of Andrew (Andy) Griffiths from the board.   Andy has decided on a dramatic career move to become an officer in the Royal Fleet Auxiliary and support the Royal Navy. 
Hugh Aldous, Chairman, says: 
"Losing Andy is a loss to us because he is an exceptional director.  Our loss, however, is going to be the Navy's considerable gain.  He will start at the Royal Naval College Dartmouth later in October and it is a credit to the Navy, the MoD and forward thinking in defence to see that they are prepared to take and commission new, talented, well-informed officers at what might be called 'a mature age'.  The Royal Fleet Auxiliary is going to get a very intelligent, experienced and able officer.   
Meanwhile we are hoping to find someone who might match Andy's experience and hence contribute, to this unusual and quite activist investment company, a skill-set that is very different from typical investment trust directors.
For the moment the board will continue as myself, Robert Legget and Dr Linda Bell and I am fortunate to have those two very bright, clear-thinking director colleagues as we work with Judith MacKenzie and her team".
