FRANKFURT, Dec 16 (Reuters) - Germany's auto lobby VDA slammed an EU proposal to scrap an effective ban on combustion engine autos from 2035, calling it "fatal" and arguing it came attached with new requirements for an industry trying to remain competitive.
"Today is not a good day for Europe as an automotive location, for the economy, growth and employment," VDA President Hildegard Mueller said in a statement on Tuesday.
"In times of increasing international competition, in times when European economic power is crucial, this overall package from Brussels is fatal."
