Factbox: US offshore wind farm projects

Sept 16 (Reuters) - There are four offshore wind power projects currently producing electricity in the U.S., and four in various stages of construction.

Three of the four projects in service are complete and one, Vineyard Wind, is nearing completion.

U.S. President Donald Trump's administration, meanwhile, has halted work on one of the four projects under construction - Danish energy firm Orsted's ORSTED.CO Revolution Wind off Rhode Island.

In an effort to restart work on Revolution Wind, Orsted and Rhode Island and Connecticut, the states with agreements to buy power from the wind farm, have sued the Trump administration, alleging the stop-work order halting construction was illegal.

One of Orsted's other projects, South Fork off New York, meanwhile, has been operational since July 2024 and has achieved a 46.4% net capacity factor in its first full year of operation.

Orsted said South Fork's performance climbed to 53% for the first half of 2025, which the company said is comparable to New York’s most efficient natural gas plants.

The following table lists the offshore wind projects in service, under construction, and in various stages of development. The projects under development include some projects that are still in active development and some that were in development in the past.
