    ** Amazon  AMZN.O  has revealed the total direct taxes
incurred in Canada for the first time, saying Thursday that it
spent C$431-million ($322.32 million) in payroll and corporate
taxes in 2021.
    
    ** Ottawa Members of Parliament are turning to their British
counterpart for help in an attempt to force Facebook's  META.O 
Nick Clegg, a former British deputy prime minister, to answer
their questions on tech giants' intimidation tactics.

    ** Queen's Park and Ottawa are at a standoff over funding
for Stellantis'  STLAM.MI  multi-billion battery plant, with
2,500 jobs hanging in the balance as the company threatens to
walk away if a deal can't be reached.
    
    ** Electra  ELBM.V  is considering selling assets after the
cost of the refinery it is building north of Toronto surged by
at least 85%.
