ElectroCore gains on positive brain injury therapy data in animal model study

** Shares of medical device maker electroCore Inc  ECOR.O 
up 4.9% at $3.80
    ** Company reports positive pre-clinical trial data for its
therapy nVNS to treat traumatic brain injury (TBI), resulting
from a violent blow or jolt to the head or body, in an animal
model
    ** nVNS in the trial showed ability to decrease the amount
of brain injury, decrease anxiety and improve motor function
post injury - ECOR
    ** The therapy's low and high dose studies on day 1 and 7
revealed smaller brain lesion volume or among the nVNS groups vs
the control group, says company
    ** Brian lesions are abnormality in brain tissue due to
damage or destruction to any part of the brain
    ** About 2.5 mln people sustain TBI each year, resulting in
283,000 hospitalizations, 52,000 deaths, according to Center for
Disease Control data estimates
    ** ECOR stock more than halved in 2022
