HK's Chow Tai Fook Jewellery hits near 8-week high on strong sales growth

** Shares of Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group Ltd  1929.HK 
rise as much as 5.7% to HK$16.68, their highest since Feb 24,
and on track for a third straight session of gain
    ** Stock is the biggest pct gainer in the Hang Seng Index
 .HSI  and the Hang Seng Commerce & Industry Index  .HSNC   
    ** Jewellery chain operator says its retail sales value for
three months ended March rose 14.2% from the same quarter a year
ago
    ** Says retail sales value for Hong Kong and Macau jumped
71.2% year-on-year
    ** Says same-store sales for Hong Kong and Macau during
January-March period grew 96.5% year-on-year
    ** Smaller rivals Luk Fook Holdings  0590.HK  rises 1.7%,
Emperor Watch & Jewellery  0887.HK  climbs 1.1%, while Chow Sang
Sang  0116.HK  slips 0.2% 
    ** The Hang Seng Commerce & Industry Index eases 0.1% and
the Hang Seng Consumption Index  .HSCGSI  falls 0.6%
    ** The Hang Seng Composite Index  .HSCI  and the Hang Seng
Index both slip 0.1%
