Enbridge Texas Eastern natgas pipeline sees Kentucky pipe back in early November

By Scott DiSavino

- Canadian energy company Enbridge's ENB.TO Texas Eastern Transmission (TETCo) unit said on Wednesday that it expects the pipeline between the Tompkinsville and Danville compressor stations in Kentucky to return to service during the first week of November.

  • TETCo declared a force majeure due to an unplanned outage on its 30-inch system north of the Tompkinsville compressor station on October 2

  • The company said it anticipates having greater clarity regarding the return to service date by October 23

  • TETCo can transport about 1.9 billion cubic feet per day (bcfd) of gas from Kentucky to Tennessee. Pipeline flow data from financial firm LSEG showed that about 1.6 bcfd of gas was flowing through the Tompkinsville and Danville compressors on Wednesday

  • Officials at Enbridge were not immediately available for comment

  • In total, TETCo can transport about 12 bcfd of gas on 8,532 miles (13,731 km) of pipe between Texas and the Gulf Coast and the US Northeast

  • One billion cubic feet of gas is enough to supply about 5 million US homes for a day

  • LSEG said average gas output in the US Lower 48 states slid from record highs of 113.3 bcfd in August and September to 111.2 bcfd so far in October due in part to force majeures and other problems on pipelines in Kentucky, Texas, West Virginia and elsewhere in recent weeks
